Gerry Sang Christy

On Saturday 14th of December Gerry did his first concert dedicated to the music of Christy Moore. The concert took place in The Terry Martin Theatre in Summerhill community centre, Summerhill County Meath.

The night sold out and people gathered in the bar until it was time to take their seats. Gerry played a broad collection of songs from across Christy’s career, including two songs with the bodhran, Tippin’ It Up To Nancy and The Well Below The Valley. He also gave rousing versions of Lisdoonvarna, Go Move Shift, Jocker’s Trip to Stuttgart, Along with beautiful versions of Ride On, Black is The Colour, and City of Chicago among many others.

The crowd joined him in singing the songs and shouted requests which he did including an original song called True Love, which Gerry had written with Christy in mind to sing it. He explained that the song didn’t make it into Christy’s songbook but it was very well received by the audience.

There will be more gigs in 2025. Keep an eye on this website and social media pages. In the meantime enjoy a few photos that were sent to Gerry after the gig. Thanks to all who came along and for your support.
